Over the last several years, the direct shipping of wine has grown considerably, and more and more wineries, retailers, and marketers are shipping wine directly to consumers in several US states. Partially as a result of the Supreme Court decision in May of 2005, the number of states that now allow some form of direct shipment has increased substantially, and now most wineries can easily reach at least half the US adult population through their direct sales channels.
While this is encouraging news for wineries and consumers, it comes with a few new responsibilities, and chief among those is compliance and reporting. The requirements for reporting sales of alcohol vary by state and county, and even by size of company shipping the wine. With technology systems making enforcement activity easier to manage, direct shippers of wine can no longer ignore the compliance and reporting requirements of the states they choose to ship to.
WSN's FORT System enables wineries to manage all reporting and compliance from a single platform. Our FORT Compliance module is fully integrated into our FORT order management system and our warehouse management system, enabling wine sellers on our platform to seamlessly manage compliance for online orders and wine clubs for all deliverable states , including both direct-ship and "non-reciprocal " states.
In this sense, the FORT Compliance engine is designed to enable wineries to focus on what they love and do best: make and sell great wine.
